Stuart Bolton has over 30 years experience in IT, 28 of which have been spent working in HE. Formerly Information Services Manager at Leeds Metropolitan University Stuart was a member of the UCISA CISG committee and UCISA Executive. He is now a freelance consultant specializing in the HE and FE sectors. Much of his work is in system specification and acquisition, and business process improvement. He has worked with a range of universities, HEFCE, JISC InfoNet and UCAS on projects as varied as the Bologna process, CRMs, Knowledgebase systems, integrating CPD administration into mainstream student record systems and Research Information Management including the Research Excellence Framework.
Peter Chatterton's consultancy work over the last 20 years spans FE, HE, government and the private sector. He supports organisations and cross-sector partnerships in programmes of innovation, change, modernisation and agile working - using new technologies and media as a catalyst. He has worked directly with a wide range of universities as well as with government agencies such as JISC, LSIS, the HE Academy, Becta, HEFCE and HEFCW in roles such as benchmarking consultant, critical friend, change management consultant, project/programme evaluator, work-based learning specialist and innovator He has his own consultancy company Daedalus e-World and also works as an Associate to other consultancies such as Aspire and Atkins Management Consultants.
Shona Cameron is an educational management consultant with expertise in the application of information and learning technologies. She has 30 years HE experience, latterly as a Director of Learning Services where was instrumental in establishing in digital literacy programmes for staff and students and a technology support service for disabled students. She has led on strategic change management and innovation in service development and delivery at institutional and national levels. Shona has been involved with a range of local, national and international review groups and project boards and has chaired the boards of both the JISC TechDis and JISC infoNet services. Recent assignments have focused on strategic planning and change, learning space design and sector benchmarking.
Paul Hopkins has experience as a senior IT manager in both the private and HE sectors He founded HE Shared Services in 2008 to focus on helping HE institutions and commercial vendors to work better together on projects which would improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the HE institutions. Specifically, the company recognised that many vendors were not able to sustain a dedicated sales/delivery team of staff with relevant HE experience.
Carolyn Lewis is a work based learning consultant specialising in the application of information and learning technologies in apprenticeship and foundation learning provision. Prior to starting her own company, Vocational Innovation Ltd, Carolyn spent over 20 years’ in the FE and Skills sector where she combined her experience of the management of government funded programmes, quality assurance as an external verifier and her IT experience in the private sector, with her passion for developing innovative approaches to delivering work based learning. Carolyn was the JISC National Work Based Learning Co-ordinator managing the JISC remit for supporting the work based learning sector in England and Wales. She was also Projector Director of the £2 million LSC funded London Assessor project, which trained and qualified over 600 individuals to join the work based learning sector in London. Recently Carolyn has been leading a variety of LSIS projects and working with numerous training providers to enhance and bring efficiencies to their apprenticeship provision through the use of innovative solutions.
Paul Bailey has over 20 years experience of working in the commercial and educational technology field and for the past 11 years has worked at a national level informing and supporting the strategic overview of e-learning in Higher and Further Education. This has included working for JISC since 2001, he was Programme Director for the JISC e-Learning Programme (until 2005) and has since worked as an educational consultant (since 2008) as well as managing and supporting the work of several JISC innovation programmes. He has worked with a wide range of Universities and Colleges across the UK as well as government bodies and funding councils, professional bodies and associations representing staff in Higher and Further Education. He has worked in a range of e-learning fields from administration systems to support learning and teaching to the pedagogical practices of learning design and digital literacies.
John Townsend has worked for over 25 years in IT, 20 in a senior position in Higher Education. Formerly Director of Corporate Information Services at Liverpool John Moores University, his experience includes corporate information systems, IT Strategy development, and the implementation of frameworks for project and programme management, IT Governance, and Enterprise Architecture. He has worked on a series of sector-wide projects for Jisc and other bodies in areas including the introduction of Enterprise Architecture into the sector, IT Governance, Flexible Service Delivery, Digital Literacy, and project DARE, delivering an operational shared service for secure academic document exchange in the Cloud. He has been a member of and chaired various UCISA and Jisc committees and been a board member of JISC-CETIS. He is now working as an independent consultant specialising in the areas outlined above and focused on promotion of effective/innovative digital engagement to support the Higher Education community.

HE-Associates was formed in 2010 to enable a group of 30+ former Principal officers of leading universities to create virtual teams of experienced consultants to assist institutions. The associates create virtual teams with strengths and experiences which match the requirements of their clients.
